I think perhaps the headline should read "Among Religious Groups We Care
About"? I do not see Hindus or Buddhists mentioned! Kidding aside, where
are the Muslims?!!

The value of the Gallup and AJC polls mentioned in this thread is that
they help dispel misperceptions held in certain quarters about a
majority of Jewish Americans' stance on the Iraq War. No one, to my
knowledge, has said that Hindus or East Indian Americans, for
instance, are rooting for American wars and interventions in the
Middle East.

I don't know about Hindus and Buddhists' actual opinions, but Muslims,
as expected, are largely opposed to the Iraq War: "Only 12% believe
the war in Iraq was a worthwhile effort, and 10% support the use of
the military to spread democracy in other countries" ("American Muslim
Voters: A Demographic Profile and Survey of Attitudes," 24 Oct 06,
<http://www.cair-net.org/pdf/American_Muslim_Voter_Survey_2006.pdf>).
Still, that means that American Muslim communities have a sizable
Ahmed Chalabi tribe, apparently about one in ten of them. In any
community inside or outside America, probably at least the top 10% are
ready to sell their country to Washington for their real or imagined
personal advance.

Good news is that American Muslims, most of whom I imagine are Sunnis,
support "normalization of relations with Iran": "A substantial
majority (69%) believe that America would improve its standing in the
Muslim world by supporting a just resolution to the Palestinian cause.
A similar portion (66%) support 'working toward normalization of
relations with Iran'" ("American Muslim Voters: A Demographic Profile
and Survey of Attitudes," 24 Oct 06,
<http://www.cair-net.org/pdf/American_Muslim_Voter_Survey_2006.pdf>).
