Everyone you call an 'international jihadist' is making a bet on
'satrap', only our physical presence will be gone, and that will help
some, but... well how long did it take to execute or assassinate all
of the Native American 'Peace Chiefs' who illegitimately gave away an
earth which tradition taught them that no one owns?
The changes due to their actions were permanent though, and our having
hand picked the people that the Iraqis could vote for is the same
situation, with what is going to be exactly the same outcome. Dead
'Chalabis' for years to come and in the Muslim world, a rather
permanent hatred of the west.
There won't be permanent hatred of the West if the Iraqis can manage
to establish as decent a government as the Iranian government after
the American departure. But it is unlikely that they will be able to
do so any time soon. And I'm afraid if they manage to set up some
kind of government against all odds, the government won't be to
Washington's liking and it will be brought under international
sanctions like the Taliban government of Afghanistan was. That will
be the beginning of a new cycle of deprivation and devastation.
That means permanent war too... and as I suggested earlier:
Everyone in America thinks we are just going to walk away from this
cultural and social destruction of Iraq as if it was just some sort of
mistake. Oops, sorry about that and all.....
'They" are Soooooo wrong.
...and something to the effect of 'get with the program', endless war,
or STOP IT!
FWIW, the US government AND it's people need to admit culpability
before the the issue can even be approached rationally.
1] Admit you HAVE a problem.
That's right, America needs a serious 12 step program to curb it's
narcissism and militarism.
More likely, they'll just blame the Iraqis for ruining their splendid,
little war. The WP article that Lou posted here and others like it,
which essentially exculpate America, exist basically for that purpose.
