GUATEMALA CITY -- Mayan priests will purify a sacred archaeological site to eliminate "bad spirits" after President Bush visits next week, an official with close ties to the group said Thursday.

"That a person like (Bush), with the persecution of our migrant brothers in the United States, with the wars he has provoked, is going to walk in our sacred lands, is an offense for the Mayan people and their culture," Juan Tiney, the director of a Mayan nongovernmental organization with close ties to Mayan religious and political leaders, said Thursday.

Also, Travus T. Hipp did a reasonable sitrep of GWB's Latin American travels which I synopsized thusly:

“All The News You Never Knew You Needed To Know …Until Now.”

In The News:

Sitrep - Street Protests in Brasil welcome George W. Bush, then… Hugo Chavez is going to show up to lead a symbolic protest march to the Argentine border where GWBs next stop is Uruguay, then the president travels to Colombia, where their army has been fighting a proxy ‘war on drugs’ on the CIA/State Department’s behalf for… a loong time, onward to Guatemala, where the government posts notices a week before they exterminate ’street urchins’ so they don’t kill the ones who can read, then Mexico.

The White House will not opposed the repeal of the PATRIOT Act subpart that allows a president to install prosecutors without congressional approval. This has been the hot button issue for the last month or so with the firing of 8 US attorneys.

House Democrats have a plan, a war plan, with benchmarks for Iraqi compliance, troops will begin withdrawing in September this year, finished by election 08, but it’s got a snowball’s chance to pass and a threat of veto by the administration.

The multinational/regional conference in Baghdad starts today.

The Republic of Georgia is sending an additional 1400 troops to Iraq. It has 356 troops there currently.

There are godless dollars out there. A run of new US one dollar coins released with inscription missing.
