        My feeling is that, as list moderator, what Michael is doing
so well is signalling when returns from particular threads have
diminished so much that they are negative. Not only the 9-11 thread
but also Iran exchanges and Democratic Party support/opposition (if
memory serves) have fallen into this category; it's not a matter, I
think, of the merits of any side but of his judgement that positions
have solidified and that yelling louder becomes the practice. I can't
think of any case where I've disagreed with his desire to make more
room for discussions particularly relevant to progressive economists.
Of course, there's always the possibility that something new could be
introduced into a suspended discussion; my feeling is that
comradeship in such cases would call for the person to float the idea
by Michael to get his reaction before posting.
