Don't think in terms of stuff. Think in terms of "goods," i.e. whatever yields social wellbeing. And what people deem a good evolves as people evolve. More wellbeing doesn't mean more stuff. In fact, it may mean less stuff! And more social interaction, more conversation, much more meaningful human contact.
