Iranian American 2010 Census Coalition Ramps Up Activities
February 17, 2010, Washington, DC – On February 13, 2010, the
Iranians Count YouTube Channel was officially launched as part of
public awareness campaign by the Iranian American 2010 Census Coalition
(IACC) about the importance of participating in the 2010 Census. The
channel includes an interview conducted by Parisa DeFaie on TapeshTV
with Nadia Babayi, Partnership Specialist, U.S. Census Bureau; Mahasti
Afshar, Executive Director, PAAIA; and Bita Milanian, IACC Project
Manager. The Iranians Count YouTube Channel is part of IACC’s
campaign to reach the widest number of Iranian Americans nationally in
the upcoming months.

Iran Excluded from LinkedIn
February 17, 2010, Washington, D.C. – The Public Affairs
Alliance of Iranian Americans (PAAIA) has learned that the professional
social networking site, LinkedIn, does not list Iran in their
“Education” drop-down menu. As a result, people who
attended school or received an academic degree in Iran are unable to
include that information in their LinkedIn profile.

California Insurance Commissioner Takes Aim at Companies Investing in Iran
February 17, 2010, Washington, D.C. – On Wednesday of last
week, the California Department of Insurance issued a press release
regarding their continued divestment efforts against companies doing
business in the Iranian oil and natural gas, nuclear and defense
sectors. As part of these continued efforts, California’s
Insurance Commissioner, Steve Poizner, issued a list of 50 companies
that have investments in the above mentioned sectors of the Iranian
economy and announced that as of March 31, 2010, no investments that an
insurer holds in any of those companies will be recognized on its
financial statements in California.
