Shahri Estakhry, KPBS | Union Bank Honoree
By Jamile Palizban, PAAIA Chapter Leader, San Diego

It is with great pride and joy that I share with you that one of our
own Iranian gems, Shahri Estakhry, has been chosen as a local community
hero by San Diego's public radio/TV KPBS and the Union Bank. Shahri is
the founder of the Iranian School of San Diego, which helps
Iranian-American youth be proud of their heritage by educating them
about Iranian culture and the Persian language. Recognizing Shahri as
a Women's History Month honoree is very well deserved given her
impressive contribution to the local Iranian community and San Diegans
in general. For additional information on the cultural diversity
partnership and a link to the KPBS page please click here and look for
her down the page.

NPR - All Things Considered

mixed with Sofrito, and J-Lo mixed with Googoosh. My mom is the Puerto
Rican, my dad the Iranian. But there isn't a Puerto-Ranian category on
the census. So I check Hispanic.

     Heath Care and Market Impacts
By Roozbeh Aliabadi

On Tuesday March 23, President Barack Obama signed into law a major
change to the U.S. health-care policy that will impact every American
and affect one-sixth of the economy. The social benefits of these
policies we will leave to others to debate, our focus is what this
means for the markets.

Within the Health Care sector the impact is mixed. There are three
categories of companies affected by the legislation with the Health
Care sector.
