 It's using the gnu version of install.   Install the Companion CD,
it's in a package called SFWgfile.  

 Another way is to install the blastwave version of CSWgfile which
would be:
pkg-get -i common

Using the blastwave tools on x86 I did ./configure gmake install no errors.
