your CPU is working too hard : he is doing the scaling and colorspace 
convertion. The Xvideo extention offloads the processing to the GPU (which is 
faster at it).

I would get a media player using Xvideo for playback. Maybe vlc, or recompiling 
mlayer/xine with the right option ...
