I am new to the list, I'm sorry if this has been reported.

I get hangs on an amd64 SMP machine, the console prints message about
recursive locking and the machine never recovers. I looked for
existing bugs but it seems your bug database on sourceforge is empty.

I am using libpfm-3.2-060621.tar.gz pfmon-3.2-060621.tar.gz
perfmon-new-base-060621.tar.gz on linux-2.6.17.7.tar.bz2 (kernel.org).

I get the hangs when remote attaching to the same process from a
script several times. It hangs after about 4-10 such attempts, and
did so three times in a row. The process is a big (about 3 GB VM) 32
bit process on FC3/amd64, perfmon2 is compiled as 64 bits. It works
fine as far as it goes but then locks up the kernel.

Recompiling the kernel without SMP got me the statistics I want
without problems.

Hardware: 2x Opteron 250 in Tyan Thunder K8W.

Has this been reported before?
