I tried perfmon2 on my Itanium 2 machine (Madison 9MB). I applied patch perfmon-new-base-070621 to kernel 2.6.22. below is some output of dmesg: perfmon: Itanium 2 PMU detected, 28 PMCs, 18 PMDs, 4 counters (47 bits) perfmon: Itanium 2 PMU installed perfmon: Montecito PMU detection failed
I used libpfm-3.2-070725 and pfmon-3.2-070725.tar.gz to create pfmon. A simple usage of pfmon reported error. [EMAIL PROTECTED] pfmon-3.2-070725]# pfmon ls cannot configure events: cannot assign events to counters [EMAIL PROTECTED] pfmon-3.2-070725]# pfmon -e CPU_CYCLES ls cannot configure events: cannot assign events to counters [EMAIL PROTECTED] pfmon-3.2-070725]# a quick debug showed function pfm_ita2_dispatch_counters retuned PFMLIB_ERR_NOASSIGN. Originally, I wanted to test the DEAR/IEAR capability of perfmon, but even a simple case also failed.
