Barry, Yes I can do that, I already do for Soap::Lite. Now that I have it working with the example below should I be using anything else? I've found that I have to do the same for variables from DBI as well as CGI - this does seem a bit excessive, so any simpler/more efficent technique would be appreciated. I guess I could use one of the encoding modules, but would that be any better than what I have below?
