Creating an IIS vroot is done using ADSI. My latest book, "Win32 Perl
Scripting: The standard extensions" discusses using ADSI (and WMI) to
interact with IIS. However it does not explain how to create vroots. For
that you will need a good book on ADSI. I suggest "Windows NT/2000 ADSI
Scripting for System Administration" by Thomas Eck. The code examples are in
VB but they are very trivial to convert from VB to Perl.
My first book, "Win32 Perl Programming: The Standard Extensions"
(http://www.roth.net/books/extensions/) covers the standard Win32 extensions
to Perl. How to use them, when to use them, why you use them and what
problems they have. You may want to look into this.
Secure telnet server: Win2k comes with one.

Subject: Seting UP IIS4.0 Virtual Hosts
Hi
I use Perl to setup Virtual Hosts on Linux, the script sets the accounts up,
creates email
domainss on an NT server and sets DNS up on Linux for the domain.
Now we are so busy on NT - I need to create a script which will:
create some directories - No problem
create a virtaul host within IIS ?
Ideally setup stats in Webtrends etc.... ?
The DNS and mail I can get the script to do this anyway.
Please...Please.....Please - Has anyone any exmples of scripts to do some of
the above OR
point me in the right direction. (i.e creating virtual hosts on IIS4.0)
(Its easy for me on linux as the .pl script just writes to httpd.conf text
file and a few other files then restarts
some services.
On NT - Well is there a good book?
Many Thanks
Tony
PS Is there a secure telnet server for NT4.
