For getting all kinds of system information, I use
Win32::AdminMisc + Win32::PerfLib for NT/2000
and
Win32::Perf95 for 9x/ME -- I downloaded this from
http://www.generation.net/~aminer/Perl
I have a few scripts I could emailed to you... they do more than you're
asking for though.
