Check the docs for
Sys::Hostname Net::Domain These came from a search for "hostname" in the ActivePerl help. They offer slightly different pieces of informaton. Under Win32, Sys::Hostname returns the same thing as the MS/DOS "hostname" command. I have never used Net::Domain, but the docs make it look like it returns an IP hostname, or parts of it.
