You can modify the registry directly; e.g., with this script:
<http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/unattended/unattended/install/bin/startup-type.pl?rev=HEAD&content-type=text/vnd.viewcvs-markup>
You invoke it like this:
startup-type.pl manual W3SVC
It does require that you use the "real name" of the service, not the
"display name". I will probably fix this one of these days. Maybe
today.
