Title: How to install modules like Win32::AdminMisc or Win32::Eventlog

Many Thanks to Pradeep Goel and Dutrieux Yves,

from their emails I managed to work out that I was not doing anything wrong but that my ppm was not getting through the proxy.

OK here is my solution gleened from their emails and RTFM.

1.) right click My Computer -> properties ->advanced -> environmental variables

2.) Create three new variables

2.a) HTTP_proxy http://your_proxy_name:portnumber

2.b) HTTP_proxy_user username

2.c) HTTP_proxy_pass password

3.) execute ppm

3.a) set repository RothConsulting http://www.roth.net/perl/packages

3.b) set save

3.c) install Win32::AdminMisc

Hope that will help others with the same problem.

Hello

I am pretty new at this perl thing and finding it confusing, I have downloaded umoung others Dave Roth's above mentioned modules. I am however finding it very difficult to install as they do not install with ppm; and I have been forced to copy files around and create directories and they still don't seem to work! At least AdminMisc seems to work but Eventlog does not.

What I find strange is evidence of DLL's for these modules already in the directory structures.
I am at the point were I am tearing hair out and am already almost bald anyway:)

OK I have loaded is Activestate's Perl:-

(with 1 registered patch, see perl -V for more detail)

Please could anyone guide me in this, as I would like to try my hand at some admin scripting.
