if you are using PPM3 you can say......

C:\perl>ppm3 rep add Myrep http://theoryx5.uwinnipeg.ca/ppm/packages/  ---- For web based reps

OR

C:\perl>ppm3 rep add Myrep C:\perl>myrep\ppd_files\ -- For local

If you download any ppd file and its corresponding tar.gz file all you have to do is navigate to the directory containing the .ppd file and

C:\perl\myrep\ppd_files\ppm2 install Win32-ODBC.ppd

if you type ppm3 help you should get the answers you need OR ppm3 help <command> for help on a specific command.

Subject: how do I add a repository to VPM or PPM

I see that activestate has the perl-ldap package on the site, but how do I point my PPM to get it. Can I have ppm install a package that I have downloaded to a directory, or can it only talk to ppm servers? I also tried using nmake from microsoft, but I can't figure out how to use it. Please help.
