Right, and if I switch off my computer then my Perl scripts will all
stop working as well, doesn't mean that the power supply to my PC has
anything to do with Perl.

The only reason I mentioned that this had nothing to do with Perl is
because you'll be able to get a better, more accurate and more helpful
response in a forum that specifically deals with CIFS or NetBIOS or
Windows networking in general - because this issue is an issue of
windows networking, not specifically related to the Perl language.
