This is very dangerous. Any reversible encryption runs a serious risk of being exploited. If you are going to do something like this, then use a product like PerlApp that will encrypt the source of your script, don't try to roll your own. Even if you do this, be aware of the caveat that if someone has the ability to read the contents of the system's memory, they can obtain the source that way.
