Thanks for looking at this. I get the problem on both the following platforms:

Win2k(SP4),  ActiveState Perl build 811 (5.8.6)  Win32::GUI 1.0
Win98,           ActiveState Perl build 811 (5.8.6)  Win32::GUI 1.0

So I guess either a perl bug or a warning introduced between 5.6.1 and 5.8.6.

Looking through the code again I retract my observation that the reference count could get called twice - the code looks fine.

Anyway, I can live with this, but would be interested if anyone else with perl 5.8.6 gets the same warning.
