Win32::Shortcut (version 0.04) is installed on my system. I'm running
ActivePerl build 817.

Subject: [perl-win32-gui-users] Whither Win32::Shortcut

So perhaps I'm quietly going insane, but I thought Win32::Shortcut was a
standard piece of ActivePerl distrubtions. But on this machine on which
I installed ActivePerl build 819, I couldn't find it... I became aware
of the issue, when I attempted to run a script that referenced it, and
the script couldn't find it. So I found it on my old machine, and
copied the .pm and the auto dir, and now things seem to work, but I was
surprised not to find it installed by default.

A PPM search for it doesn't find it. A CPAN search for it doesn't find
it. A Google search find a hit on CPAN (
http://search.cpan.org/src/JDB/libwin32-0.26/Shortcut/docs/reference.html
) as part of libwin32 it appears. Which further convinces me it should
be a part of the standard ActivePerl release, because I think libwin32
is part of the standard ActivePerl release.

ppm list doesn't list it, nor does it list libwin32

I don't recall ever having to explicitly install Win32::Shortcut from
the days I started using it, nor during several installs on new hard
disks and new computers, before this time.

Can anyone explain what is going on? Can you confirm if your machine
running ActivePerl build 819 does or doesn't have Win32::Shortcut? And
likewise for build 817 (which I was running before my last hard drive
crash)? Earlier versions?

Thanks.
