Hi,

ActiveState currently report that FileHandle::Fmode will not build on Win32.
When I click on the "FAIL" link for it at
http://ppm.activestate.com/BuildStatus/5.8-F.html (the actual link is
http://ppm.activestate.com/BuildStatus/5.8-windows/windows-5.8/FileHandle-Fmode-0.09.txt
 )
I see:

------------------------------------------------------------------
"Makefile out-of-date with respect to Makefile.PL"
"Cleaning current config before rebuilding Makefile..."
nmake -f Makefile.old
Microsoft (R) Progr D:\cpanrun\build\5-8-0\bin\perl.exe Makefile.PL
Checking if your kit is complete...
Looks good
Writing MakNMAKE : fatal error U1077: 'false' : return code '0x1'
Stop.
t. <=="
"==> Please rerun the make command. <=="
false
------------------------------------------------------------------

What on Earth does all that mean ???

When I download the source from CPAN I can successfully build on every build
of perl 5.8 that I have.

This module also fails to build on hpux-pa-risc for ActiveState - but
there's no active link to see any diagnostics on that failure. I've asked
the question before (and I'll ask it again) - "why are those diagnostics not
available ?"

For perl 5.6, ActiveState finds no problems with this module on Win32. (For
linux and hpux-pa-risc, it fails ... but again the diagnostics are
unavailable.)

Cheers,
Rob
