Hi All
This is my first email to the perl listserve so hopefully this is the right
place to ask the question I have.
We use Tivoli on NT which comes with Perl 4. Tivoli uses Perl 4 to provide
lots of information for Tivoli inner workings. One of the things it does
is get the local time of a system to determine when a monitor should fire.
To make a long story short it is not working like I think it should.
So I wrote a perl script to that called the localtime function to find out
what time it was reporting on the system. What I found was that some
systems in the same timezone with the same time set, i.e. time from a DOS
prompt reported the same time, reported different times when I ran the perl
script. It looks like the localtime is taking time zones into effect and
adjusting the time. The problem is that the NT servers all appear to be
set time same, i.e. check the time and timezone of the system.
So my question is what does loacltime look at on an NT system to calculate
the time?
thnx
dug
