Ben,
i had roughly the same experience over a year ago, i'm out of town now
but upon return to office if still needed i will look up my work around.
Hopefully by then a better solution will emerge, i expect it will.
basically as i recall the bat file runs on the client, from the
client's point of view if you will. I felt forced to use it in order
to start Word 95 in a very particular manner. So unless you have an
absolute reason for having to use a bat file you may be better off
spending time getting Perl to do what you need - trust me, it will.
regards,
bill

Subject: .bat?
Hi,
I have a perl script that creates a batch file and runs it
(after filling
out a form).Unfortunately when it runs it the perl script wants
to save
itself at the client browser's end. I have tried both
system("$scriptfile");
and open(BAT, "$scriptfile|").
The batch file is running the followind DOS commands: mkdir,
xcopy, attrib,
and net. I know some of the commands can be run using perl
modules but I
can't get the stupid things to work.
I've checked permissions on the necessary directories.
Any suggestions?
