no luck. When I try the substitution I get the line below. I have no idea
why this is happening.

Founder, chairman and editor-in-chief of Red Herring Communications, Inc.,
Perkins is at
the helm of the world&#8217;s leading integrated media company. Red Herring
magazine, the
company&#8217;s flagship product, is an award-winning international
technology business and
investment monthly, which provides a forward-thinking, analytical look at
technology
companies and industries, and evaluates technology as a strategic asset.

Ranked as one of the top ten technology/business journalists by Marketing
Computers
magazine, Perkins is an active editorial contributor across all of Red
Herring&#8217;s media
platforms. He authors Red Herring magazine&#8217;s lead editorial, The
Angler, each month
and a regular weekly column for redherring.com called the Red Eye. In
addition, he
appears weekly on CNN Financial Network&#8217;s Digital Jam and regularly on
MSNBC&#8217;s
Hardball with Chris Matthews, and is a regular on-air commentator for CNN,
CNBC,
BBC and Bloomberg television. Perkins also writes a monthly column for The
Wall Street
Journal and has been a member of the World Economic Forum&#8217;s Media
Leaders group
since 1996.

In 1999, Perkins co-authored the international best-selling book, The
Internet Bubble:
Inside the Overvalued World of High-Tech Stocks, where he predicted that the
bubble
created by the Internet craze would burst and only a few companies would be
profitable
over the long run. A second revision of this book, The Internet Bubble: The
Inside Story
on Why it Burst - And What You Can Do to Profit Now, will be released in
March, 2001.

At the lecture podium, Perkins discusses the state of the Internet and the
future of high-
tech investing. With unmatched depth of analysis and insider perspective, he
delivers an
understanding of how technology and the Internet are changing the business
landscape.
Perkins also examines technology companies through the eyes of Wall Street,
highlighting trends and offering insight into the changes the current
investment climate
demands. Perkins examines many of the Internet&#8217;s major players and
argues that despite
the fallout ignoring technology stocks could be as dangerous to your
portfolio as buying
too much.

Hi,

You could try:

$biography =~ s/\n/<br>/g;

(i.e. global replace)

-Gert

Subject: link breaks and html

Hello,

I have the following text in the DB (mysql) ...

<snip>

This three-way clash of the consoles is certain to enthrall video game fans
since the competition will likely heighten the quality of all the products
and keep each company on its toes.

However, is there enough room in the market for these different machines?

</snip>

Whenever printed in the command line the line breaks are in place. I attempt
to print to print the same data to an html page and the line breaks do not
appear. I have tried substituing <br> for \n and \r to no avail.

$biography =~ s/\r/<br> /;
$biography =~ s/\n/<br> /;

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Roee Rubin
