My experiment was "successful", in a limited way.  I
used HTML::TokeParser, only looked at start tags, and
only looked at their value attributes, which is where
_most_ of my <TMPL_VARS> are ;)

A seemingly "better" solution (I will try when I get
back to work Monday morning) would be to take
advantage of HTML::Template's option of putting your
template vars inside of HTML comments -- then that's
the only place your parsing routine has to look.
