Dave Roth (the author of Win32::ODBC) is no longer supporting it
and recommends using DBI(DBD::ODBC).

Win32::ODBC comes with AS Perl when you install it from the msi. DBI
needs installation from either cpan or ppm. Since the OP was facing
problems with nmake the Win32::ODBC option seemed more viable.
As for Win32::ODBC I wrote a production application in Q3 2000 which is
still running as of today. Issues with the module and the application
itself have been nil to date.
One assumes the amount of 'support' required as received by Mr. Roth
since the last stable release which resembles a date of some sort
(19980806) was negligible to the point of him not wanting to support it
any more.
But when we say support we need to be clear that there are two types:-
1) theres some hefty arsed bug that needs a new revision of the module
2) newbie support
The only module owner that I rate in terms of both types of support
(based on what I have seen after 7 odd years of lurking on this list) is
Bill Birthisel. Which is by no means an insinuation on Tim, Dave, or
anyone else.
Cheers,
Just in
