Oh there's no objection to releasing them publicly -- they aren't secret
at all -- it's just tedious to "take a peek" and rarely that useful.

For example, the metaconfig units for perl versions 5.003, 5.004, and
5.005 have all been available for many years on CPAN under my id (ANDYD).
I could count on the fingers of one hand the number of people who have
contacted me about them, and still have fingers left over :-).

It's just never seemed that worthwhile to set up any more complex public
distribution scheme since it'd be so rarely used.
