3.3.2 dies like this. (And the fix is apparently very specific, as arete,
which looks to be running 3.3.2, dies wiht a complaint about
no-accumulate-outgoing-args not existing.

I think we're entering a maze of twisty little compiler version quirks,
all of them annoying. :(
