Odd.  It should work.  I submitted a patch last week to fix it (filed 
under [perl #50066] .)

Oh, agreed.  I just meant that "we" didn't have to be "you".  But fixing 
it as you did, by understanding what all the different flags actually do, 
and localizing it all in the darwin hints file, instead of doing half of 
it in the hints file and and half in pbc_to_exe, was indeed the right 
approach.
