Oooh, interesting hack! Of course, the discussion that should come up that we have an ord() in Parrot but not a chr(). I realise mine is a bit of a hack, but I really don't understand the current string encoding stuff. Is it finished? Do we need lots of unicode hacking? Do we need to work on ICU-lite?
