I'm suffering the same problem. It has increased the size of my 'make' output log by a factor of 100 -- though it has no affect, AFAICT, on anything happening in 'make test'. Oh, OK; I had assumed that #44389 was Apple-specific. It is really f*!#$%ing annoying, isn't it. Absolutely.
