I don't know ... since we're still using ::T for classy things, I'd kind of like to see something with a : in it. I also get the feeling that these are type/class placeholders, so I wouldn't mind a ^ either. Here are some suggestions: :$T :^T ^^T :&T $::T $:T [T] # these next 3 don't evoke "variable" as much as <T> # parametric type (ala C++) (T) And yes, I know several of those are already "taken".
