That depends on how Apache is compiled but the Document Root is
defined on my Linux boxes in the Apache Config file under
/usr/local/apache/ or /etc/apache
Also, FWIW, I believe httpd -V outputs the basic configuration
information for apache
www2:~ # /srv/www/bin/httpd -V
blah blah blah
-D HTTPD_ROOT="/srv/www"
-D SERVER_CONFIG_FILE="conf/httpd.conf"
blah blahblah
I strong recommend trying to run Apache on a Free OS like GNU/Linux or
BSD
