File-MimeInfo-Magic was last released in 2008 and there were no other CPAN releases from the author since. However, reading http://blogs.perl.org/users/joel_berger/2011/12/a-zoidberg-story.html , it appears that he's still alive, just moved on to concentrate on a different project.
