Sisyphus,

our site implements greylisting to cut through the ludicrous amounts
of spam that we get (something like 98% of the messages hitting our
server are undesireable). It just asks the sender to retry sending the
message in 10 minutes - if the sender MTA is compliant, it is then
whitelisted and no delay is experienced again from that IP
address. Most spammers don't obey the request to retry hence the spam
never gets delivered. Yay us.

It seems that optusnet does not play well with this scheme and does
not retry until 48 hours later instead of the requested 10 minutes -
this seems to have been noticed by others, eg. look for optusnet here:

http://www.hmailserver.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6549

We can whitelist optusnet if you think it is not a spam originator (we
don't know much about it), or if you have an alternative email
address, we can try using that (I have verified that gmail for example
plays well with greylisting).

Aloha,

        Frossie
