I tried to install from CPAN as well as I downloaded the package and tried to build. Both failed with the same issue. I noticed the Inline comment as well and tried to build without it (answering n to the question whether or not in build with Inline). Same result. I have noticed that I don't have a SUNWolinc package. I don't know why and am having a significant issue trying to find it. I installed the Sun Studio 11, so I thought that it would have installed all required libraries. Don't know why it is missing - it isn't even in the distribution for Sun Studio so my thought is that it supposed to be included with the OS install disks. My lab support person doesn't have the CDs as are machines get configured from a central jumpstart server.

Not sure if that is your problem, but that's where I would start. Inline is certainly important for PDL. Did you try "install PDL" from CPAN, or did you just "get PDL" and then try to build and install manually? CPAN should have picked up on the Inline dependency.
