CHM/PDL-2.4.6_992.tar.gz (a.k.a. PDL-2.4.7 pre-release 2)
has been uploaded to CPAN and should appear at a CPAN
mirror near you shortly. You can download it directly
from

or via the cpan shell. Be sure to use the distribution
path as this is technically another development release

The pre-release version of our new PDL web site is
http://pdl.perl.org/2.4.7RC/
If you are a PDL user or developer, please test this
release on your platform(s) of choice. Of particular
interest are two things:
(1) Does PDL build on your platform and what
dependencies work or can be made to work?
(2) Are the installation instructions for PDL
and its dependencies correct for your
platform? Especially, if you follow the
web site directions from the link above,
can you build PDL and the base set of
dependencies: the key external dependencies
we would like available everywhere are
2-D graphics (PLplot, PGPLOT) and 3-D
graphics using the Perl OpenGL module.
Any problems, corrections, updates,... please reply to
the pdl-porters or perldl mailing list so that they
may be addressed.
Next Wednesday, 18-Aug-2010, we will release the last
pre-release for PDL-2.4.7 for final verification including
any updates from the preX feedback and installation notes.
The official PDL-2.4.7 release will follow soon after
on 19-Aug or 20-Aug. At that time, platform specific
releases will be made based on that version.
Please reply with you test results and what you tried.
Information on the new features is good. For example,
can you run the newly revived wmpeg() routine to create
MPEG video from a piddle image sequence?
I would also appreciate any feedback on whether you
tried or were able to try the new pdl2 functionality.
NOTE: pdl2 should work regardless of whether you have
installed the Devel::REPL pre-requisite. It will
just have the original perldl feature set if the
Devel::REPL is not installed or if one of
Term::ReadLine::Gnu or Term::ReadLine::Perl are
not installed.
