My understanding of the PDL::PP approach is that it allows for
higher-level code (the “loop” construct in particular) to be
compiled to machine code via C.

However, I see that it's only possible to run the resulting
compiled procedures sequentially; so, there'd be, roughly, so
        many loops as there operations.

(I cannot readily see a way to overcome this particular issue,
but I've got the feeling that there may be one.)

A more specific pointer, please? (A Date: or Subject: would be
        sufficient for me, I guess.)
