Subject: [Perldl] CHM/PDL-2.4.9_010.tar.gz released to CPAN

Announcing the latest CPAN developers release
of PDL coming to a mirror site near you within
the next few days. Enjoy!

Just uploaded the ppm packages now - no new problems to report; main
concern is still the pthreadBarf.t failure. (I've built these ppm
packages with pthreads, despite the failure.)

Thanks for the status update. Once I can get the library
detection code added and working, I guess it'll be time to
track down the origin of the problem.

I'm now building all of my 32-bit ppm packages with the mingw.org port
of gcc-4.5.2. (Previously I've used gcc-3.4.5.)
Unlike gcc-3.4.5, the gcc-4.5.2 packages have a dependency upon
libgcc_s_sjlj-1.dll. That's a bit of a worry, but I *think* I've handled
it right. If we start getting complaints that 'libgcc_s_sjlj-1.dll'
can't be found, then we'll know I haven't.

Do I need to wipe out my current PDL install and then
reinstall from scratch or will a PPM update just do
the right thing---as in pull in any other libraries
that need to have the same compiler?

The PDL-2.4.9 packages that are available were built using 3.4.5, and
without pthreads - but my intention is to use 4.5.2 (with pthreads) for
the next "stable"release, too.

Let me know if you'd like things to be done differently ... I'm pretty
flexible.
(Or, as Groucho Marx put it: "These are my principles ... if you don't
like them, I have others." ;-)

Cheers,
Rob
