That's true only in relation to building from source, and only on perl-5.14.
If (as Fabio has done) you install PDL from the sisyphusion repo
(http://www.sisyphusion.tk/ppmindex.html), you don't have to worry about any
of that - the ppm packages come with PDL::Graphics::PLplot, even for
perl-5.14.
