For some interesting reading related to the
availability and support for GUI toolkits
with PDL, see

http://mailman.jach.hawaii.edu/pipermail/pdl-porters/2010-May/002263.html

and the thread discussion going forwards. It
is interesting to see how things appeared in
May 2010 versus where we are now.

One new bit of information: the developer of
the Prima perl GUI toolkit has added OpenGL
widget support. The Prima toolkit is very nice
with good support and many features. It might
be worth considering as an alternative to Tk.

We're always looking for developers wishing
to contribute to PDL. If you see something
missing, feel free to help out. There are
always far more projects that could be done
than developers, testers, debuggers, writers
of documentation, or web site editors....

When trying to run the Tk3d demo, I get a core dump and I'm prompted

Hi Edvardsen-

The Tk3d demo uses the PDL::Graphics::TriD::Tk
widget for displaying TriD graphics.

That implementation was X11-only and is not
supported currently because there is no portable
Tk support for an OpenGL widget available. I
has been deprecated and removed from recent
releases.

However, the desire is to enable support for
multiple GUIs alongside the TriD graphics.
At that point the Tk widget could be refactored
appropriately.

/usr/local/lib/perl/5.14.2/auto/Data/Dumper/Dumper.so

I tried to reinstall Data-Dumper and Dumper.so (v 2.131) was
successfully installed via CPAN.

Anyone got any idea why this happens?

Is it possible that you have updated anything
PDL related via cpan? If so, version skew may
have been introduced which caused the demo to
now fail.

Cheers,
Chris
