I recall that with SPP 5.16.1 win7 64 bit, the term worked correctly as well. 
Maybe this is an issue only with 5.14.3 or maybe only with ActivePerl 5.14.3? I 
had to roll back from 5.16.1 due to a couple of modules not installing and I 
changed two things at once - Perl distribution and the version number. 

How does one set the Terminal Type?

My SPP 5.16.1 with PDL 2.004_012 works like a charm with TERM explicitly 
cleared.  If it is set to dumb, then everything stops working ---including the 
arrow keys.  This is for 64bit win7 but the 32bit SPP.
