In fact, I've just created such a copy, and it seems to be going fine with
MSVC++ 6.0 on various builds of ActivePerl - but I've absolutely no idea
whether it's compiling the code we want to check.
You can make absolutely certain
by looking at Basic/Core/pdl.h.PL that you used in your build. If it has
the string 'PDL_TRANS_START_FLEXIBLE' in it, then it's the new code.
Yes, I see that string in that file :-)
I'm glad to hear that it works with your MSVC. Is that good enough? Do
we care about any other versions of MSVC? If we don't then that's good
enough for me, and I'll push this code into master.
In the meantime, my other MS Compilers have also successfully built this
PDL.
So ... no problems with my non-optimising MSVC++ 6.0 compiler and 32-bit
ActivePerls 5.8.9, 5.10.0, 5.12.0 and 5.16.0.
Also no problems with MSVC++7.0 and a 32-bit perl-5.16.0 built with same
compiler.
And no problems with MS Platform SDK compiler and x64 builds of
perls-5.10.0, 5.12.0, 5.14.0, 5.16.0 and 5.18.0. All of those x64 perls were
built with that MS Platform SDK compiler - either by ActiveState (earlier
versions) or me (later versions).
I've also run this PDL by all of my 32-bit and 64-bit MinGW-built perls - no
problems.
Nicely done, Dima !!
It certainly looks "good enough" to me ;-)
Cheers,
Rob
