With the holidays I have a few spare moments to finally add my 2 cents to this
thread...
I used PDL for implementing certain algorithms as part of my dissertation work.
(Completed Fall 2013!)
Mostly using PDL::Stats within a larger body of plain Perl code.

Since 2010.

2.4.9.

PDL::Stats

Sorry, but I really dislike the documentation. :(
For one, it would be nice if it were written more generally. I understand, of
course, the
predilections of the authors but I find the many examples from astronomy (a
field I know almost nothing about)
to be fairly distracting.

If only I had more work to which PDL is suited!
Maybe 2014 will bring more such projects? :)

I can't think of anything in particular. So far so good!
I did notice that in "Mastering Algorithms with Perl" there is mention of an
"upcoming"
PDL book which never seemed to materialize in the ~15 years since that was
written.
A professionally edited and published book as once promised would be very nice!
