The Department of Asian Studies seeks a full-time Lecturer in Tagalog (Filipino) and Indonesian, beginning July 1, 2005. Three-year renewable contract with renewal based on merit and contingent on program funding. Minimum qualifications: BA or equivalent in relevant field (may include Applied Linguistics and/or Language Pedagogy). Native speaker level competency in Tagalog (Filipino) and fluency in Indonesian. Requires an explicit understanding of the properties of the target languages and basic knowledge of linguistic and cultural background; familiarity with language-teaching methodologies, including technology-related pedagogy, ability to work autonomously both as a lecturer in Tagalog/Indonesian and supervision of a Teaching Associate in Indonesian. Duties include classroom teaching, consultation with students, cooperative participation in course development, contribution to the design, pedagogy and organization of courses, attendance at meetings and service on committees.
