| The Barcelona Council has made the process of economic and social reform "irreversible" This was the message delivered by Spanish Prime Minister Jos� Mar�a Aznar at the closing press conference of the Barcelona European Council, which he held jointly with Commission President Romano Prodi and CFSP High Representative Javier Solana. Spanish Presidency stresses importance of Barcelona Declaration for cessation of violence in Middle East The President of the EU Council and Spanish Foreign Minister, Josep Piqu�, has spoken about the Barcelona Declaration on the situation in the Middle East, which has been discussed at the European Council. Ecofin President gives assurance that the Fifteen are "getting closer" to liberalising energy and emphasises broad agreement on need to reach concrete agreements on economic reform The European Council has also asked the enlargement countries to implement reforms. Pat Cox: "The challenge now is to deliver the implementation of commitments made" The President of the European Parliament noted that "the success of the Lisbon process depends on the adoption of legislation which comes under co-decision", and added that "the European Parliament can make a decisive contribution to driving forward that process of economic reform linked with social justice."
