Thank you Linda, I don’t think they could be fecal pellets – they are very tiny
and there were many of them! Im going to assume that they are indeed from some
cleaning method – currently waiting to hear back from our head of custodial
department!

Could be cleaning remnants, as suggested. There are industroal dust mops with
red fiber heads that are popular in warehouses etc. Another possibility: some
look a little like fecal pellets of small mammals, but this is unlikely unless
you have lots of the same size and shape. If mammals ingest synthetic fibers
because they are contaminated with food, it shows up in their pellets. I did
not notice a scale, so not sure this is likely!

Subject: [pestlist] Insect related?

Dear All,

I have a strange question – I recently found these small balls of fibers in the
corner of one of our display rooms. It is a long room with large windows and a
door to the exterior, housing only one of our sculptures. There is nothing red
in the room and certainly nothing wax like (these red globs look waxy to me?).
I am wondering, since there were so many of these small fibrous balls if these
are insect related? Anyone have any ideas?

Best,
Abbie Kundishora
