As others have pointed out, the fly is a psychodid fly, a moth or drain fly. It’s quite a common species to find. Years ago it was called Telmatoscopus albipunctatus. It was originally described in the genus Psychoda (so many species were), but the correct name for the species is now Clogmia albipunctata (Williston, 1893). I’m not sure of the derivation of the genus name, but it’s an interesting looking one. There have been cases of nasal, urinary and digestive myiasis involved with larvae of this species. Louis N.
